This example workflow fires on a daily schedule or on-demand in a batch you kick off manually. The trigger can also be adjusted to run automatically when orders are placed. It then checks for two conditions, if the authorization state is stored in the transaction, and if the order was actually authorized. It then captures the payment. You can easily extend this workflow with your own conditions or additional actions.
This automation is particularly useful if you need to set your Shopify store's setting to "Manual Capture" for your own business reasons but still want to automatically capture payments in some cases.
One example is if you need to first vet your buyers before allowing them to make purchases. For example, you may want to look into a new customer and approve their first purchase manually and capture their first payment only after screening the customer. After the customer has been properly vetted, you'd like to automatically capture all future payments. This example workflow can handle that scenario with some simple additions. Additionally, you can customize the workflow to email you or tag the customer when they first place an order. With some custom conditions or actions based on your needs, you can create a complete business workflow to handle all aspects of your particular use case.
